Pastor's Thoughts

When word came that a popular singer named Whitney Houston had died, many of us stopped and took note of a lovely lady with a gifted voice. She grew up in church, her mom being an accomplished gospel singer encouraged Whitney to sing in the choir and from there she sang before millions. In 2002 she was interviewed by Diane Sawyer and she said this, "The biggest devil is me.." The context of that statement had to do entirely with her struggle with addictions, drugs and alcohol. Whitney's life is one like so many where the struggle takes its toil, for there comes a point with addictions that the addiction tells us what to do and when. She, like so many today, fought - some continue to fight a very real battle. While our thoughts and prayers are with Ms. Houston's family, I know a lot of people right around here that are fighting a brutal battle every day, for them and their families, we pray. I trust to see you in church this Sunday.
